Avishalom Tor, professor of law and director of the Notre Dame Law School’s Research Program on Law and Market Behavior (ND LAMB), hosted Bruno Ryff, consul general at Consulate General of Switzerland in Chicago and Joerg Oberschmied, deputy and senior public diplomacy officer, to discuss collaborative activities between the Research Program on Law and Market Behavior (ND LAMB) and Notre Dame Law School in Switzerland.

The wide-ranging conversation covered the Law School’s exceptional Global Lawyering Initiative, developed by Dean G. Marcus Cole, with the assistance of Professor Paul Miller, faculty and student exchanges, joint research, and more.

Tor focused on LAMB’s ongoing scholarly collaboration with Lucerne Law School, lead by Prof. Dr. Klaus Mathis, chair of Public Law, Law of the Sustainable Economy, and Philosophy of Law at the University of Lucerne. This collaboration has produced a series of co-sponsored law and economics conferences in Lucerne. The most recent conference, The Law and Economics of the Digital Transformation was held in April 2022 and featured a keynote lecture by Dean Cole. To further enhance the impact of these scholarly exchanges, each joint conference is followed by a peer-reviewed volume edited by Mathis and Tor and published by Springer Nature. The 2022 volume is on Law and Economics of the Coronavirus Crisis.

The next step in this thriving scholarly collaboration is the upcoming conference on The Law and Economics of Justice that will take place in Lucerne on March 17-18, 2023.
